WOODSTOCK’s women secured a place in the regional division of AEGON Team Tennis next season after winning a play-off away to Wargrave, from Berkshire.

After the singles, Woodstock led 3-1, winning three matches in third set tie-breaks.

The victory was completed by Woodstock first pair, teenagers, Taysie Gujral and Kyla Haslett-Hawkins, who beat Wargrave’s more experienced ladies 10-7 in the third set.

Oxford Sports men faced a home tie against Cirencester, with the winner gaining a place alongside North Oxford in the South West (E) regional division.

After splitting the singles and doubles, Sports missed out by losing the shoot-out.

LOUIS Manson almost made it a memorable double in the Penny & Sinclair Tennis Championships at Virgin Active Oxford.

The North Oxford player won the 16s doubles with partner Connor Ferguson.

In the singles, he lost 10-5 in the final set tie-break to Ivor Mandic, from Surrey, but this was Manson’s best result in a 16s grade 3 tournament.

Oxfordshire’s Harrison Ridge put a men’s singles semi-final exit behind him to win the open doubles with Dan Connell, from Middlesex.
