THERE was no joy for Oxford RL in their new home as they went down 40-14 to Hunslet Hawks in their first match at Tilsley Park, Abingdon.

The defeat, which provided fellow strugglers Hunslet with their first success, leaves Oxford fourth from bottom in Kingstone Press League 1.

Two unconverted tries from Mufaro Mvududu gave Hunslet the lead.

Oxford replied with a slick move, which allowed Nathan Kitson to score their first try.

Further tries from Geo-rge Flanigan and Mo Agoro plus a conversion from Simon Brown gave the visitors an 18-8 lead heading into the interval.

Oxford’s second unconverted try came from Tom Holmes.

Hunslet raced clear in the second half with further tries from Lewis Reed, a hat-trick score from Mvududu and a long-range effort from Richie Barnett.

Brown landed two conversion, and a penalty after a foul from Nathan Kitson, which left the Oxford half-back to the sin bin.

Kitson returned to convert Jack Smith’s try, but Hunslet had the final say with a try from Ben Crane converted by Brown.
