BICESTER Boxing Club head coach Daza Usher praised welterweight duo Sammy AitTales and Ant Miller after the pair won bouts at the Witney Fightclub show.

Both claimed unanimous decisions and Usher, himself a welterweight, was thrilled to see them deliver dominant displays.

He said: “I’m really proud and pleased with both of the lads.

“They are both training hard for our home show and it’s good to get victories in the run-up.

“Both lads were up against tough opponents, but the work they put in at the gym and the numerous miles they covered when running gave them the edge.

“They can both build on this performance and add more to their growing skill set.”

Ait-Tales was the first in the ring, taking on Chippenham’s well-supported Aiden Thomas.

The Bicester fighter looked impressive from the start, firing out fast combinations and employing slick head movement to avoid oncoming punches.

His control grew as the fight went on and the judges agreed he had outclassed Thomas by delivering a unanimous victory.

Miller’s fight against Ashley Garrington, from Torquay, went along similar lines.

Both men will be part of the annual Oxford Fight Night, at the Bicester Leisure Centre this Saturday.

  • DIDCOT cruiserweight Dariusz Skop believes he has a point to prove as he aims to record a sixth straight victory next month.

The 30-year-old beat Gyorgi Novak on points in October, but admits he was not as his best.

Skop will be matched over six rounds at the Camden Centre on December 4 and promises to put in an improved performance.

He said: “I’m going to show everyone what I can do.

“I’m going to do more sparring for this fight.

“I’m going to travel to lots of gyms and get sparring with lighter boxers to improve my speed.”

Skop hopes victory will set him up for a big year in 2016 and he wants to be offered a tough match-up.

He said: “I want to step up. The way I see it, the challenge should be bigger in every fight.”
