Kemar Roofe’s stellar form for Oxford United in April has netted the forward a nomination for Sky Bet League Two’s player of the month.

The West Bromwich Albion loanee, who had only scored once before in his senior career, bagged five goals in six games as the U’s went unbeaten.

Roofe’s purple patch began on Good Friday, with a double in the 3-2 win at Wycombe Wanderers.

Another brace followed in a 3-0 success at Tranmere Rovers and he went on to open the scoring as Cambridge United were beaten 2-0 at the Kassam Stadium last weekend.

Roofe, whose loan expires after the trip to Newport County on Saturday, is the first nomination the squad have received this season.

United

Ryan Clarke was the last U's player to win a monthly award, in January 2014.

But the 22-year-old is up against it in the battle for the trophy.

Adam Barrett marshalled seven successive clean sheets in a Southend United back four, while Shrewsbury Town defender Connor Goldson and Portsmouth midfielder Jed Wallace complete the shortlist.

The winner will be unveiled tomorrow morning.
