CHIPPING Norton’s Martin Shepherd won his third Oxfordshire indoor singles title with a 22-14 victory over clubmate John Cox in the final at Oxford City & County.

The match was all-square at 8-8 after ten ends, before Shepherd edged in front.

Cox reduced the deficit to 14- 12 after 18 ends, but then Shepherd’s more consistent bowling saw him forge clear to secure victory.

Oxford & District’s Alan Mead and Eric Hollinrake took the over 60s pairs title with a 21-13 victory over Banbury Cross’s Keith McNeill and John Tee at the same venue.

There was nothing to choose between the two sides after nine ends with the score 8-8.

But Mead and and Hollinrake then won six consecutive ends to storm clear.
