OXFORDSHIRE’S Callum Slattery helped England Under 16s to a 2-1 win over Scotland in the Victory Shield at Yeovil Town.

The teenage midfielder, who hails from Kidlington, played the full game in front of 4,733 fans as England saw a one-goal lead wiped out before hitting back to claim victory.

It was the Southampton Academy youngster’s second game in the competition, having captained the Three Lions on his debut in a 1-0 defeat by Wales at Bangor City.

Slattery will now be hoping to be selected for England when they play in a UEFA Under 16 tournament against Switerland and Slovakia at St George’s Park, Burton, from February 13-21.
