PROLIFIC scorer John Mills hit another hat-trick to bring up a career half-century of goals for Didcot Town in their emphatic 5-1 win at home to Wimborne Town in Southern League Division 1 South & West.

Mills’s latest treble takes his tally for the season to a remarkable 31.

Didcot made a lightning start, with Pablo Haysham firing home after just 90 seconds following Andy Ballard’s long throw.

Mills had a number of chances to double the hosts lead, only to be denied by Jason Harvell.

However, he finally beat the visiting goalkeeper when he latched on to a perfect through ball from Jack Self to fire home.

Shortly afterwards, Mills was felled by Billy Maybury in the box and picked himself up to fire home the spot-kick.

Wimborne gave themselves a lifeline just before half-time when Jamie Davidson’s volley caught out James Foster.

They had a chance to reduce the deficit further after the break, but Mark Gamble’s tame effort was cleared off the line by Luke Carnell.

Mills squandered more chances, but just after the hour struck from close range to complete his hat-trick with his 50th goal for the club.

Late on, the visitors were reduced to ten men when goalscorer Davidson was shown a red card for a poor challenge on Self.

The Railwaymen capped their best display of the season when substitute Matt Clark volleyed home for his first Didcot goal two minutes from time as they extended their unbeaten league run to 11 matches.

Didcot Tn: Foster, Elkins, Organ, Self, Carnell, Learoyd, Longford (Clark 83), Ballard, Mills (Brooks 86), Haysham, Woodley (Dutton-Black 75). Subs not used: Baines, Heapy.
