Oxford had won their way through in convincing fashion to the semi-finals where they eased past Belvoir 14-7, while Norton pipped Cleve 11-10.

For Timmins it capped an excellent year, which had seen him placed third in the national rankings, while Simpson has previously enjoyed international success and took bronze in the Archery GB national series final.

Parkin added that Oxford planned to put the prize-money towards the club’s proposed £50,000 indoor sports centre at their base at Oxford RFC, North Hinksey.

“We want to build it probably in two phases and we are around the £30,000-mark, so this will keep moving things along,” he added.
