RUGBY UNION: Davies gets lead role in Welsh RU
Oxford University Blue Gareth Davies has been elected chairman of the Welsh Rugby Union.
Former Wales and British Lions fly half Davies, who played in the 1977 Varsity Match, will move on from his role as Newport Gwent Dragons chief executive.
Meanwhile, Banbury B saw off Newbury B 34-21 in a friendly at Bodicote Park.
Tries from Callum Horne, Ben Humphrys and Harry Graham, plus a Sam Manning conversion saw Banbury lead 17-14 at the break.
Dan Morris and Tom Chiles touched down in the second half, with Manning converting both and a penalty to seal the hosts’ victory.
