Oxford City have completed the signing of former Royal Antwerp defender Kiko Insa, who will go straight into the side for tomorrow's Vanarama Conference North fixture against Hednesford Town at Marsh Lane.

The much-travelled central defender, 26, who has been training with City for as few weeks, will start the game.

City’s general manager Justin Merritt said: “Kiko is a strong defender with a good pedigree.”

The Spaniard, whose full name is Francisco Insa Bohigues, is a former youth player with Valencia, before going to Belgium where he played for Royal Antwerp and Namur, the transfer between those two clubs being £88,000.

He has also played for Spanish club Cartagena, but the last side he played for was Ventspils in Latvia.

He has been without a club this season before joining City, who have been hit by injuries to defenders in recent weeks.
