DIDCOT light heavyweight Michael Lobby is relishing the role of the underdog as he continues his fledgling professional career.

The 28-year-old returns to the Camden Centre on Friday, October 10 – the scene of his professional debut in May when he beat the experienced Elvis Dube.

And Lobby is upbeat about a repeat show as he looks to maintain his upward trajectory.

“I like having tough fights,” he said. “Being the underdog brings the best out of me.

“My best wins as an amateur always came when I was expected to lose.

“I used to just about scrape a win when I was supposed to win, but I boxed out of my skin when the odds were against me.”

And Lobby has high hopes that in the near future he will be boxing for a belt.

“I want to be busy,” he added.

“Maybe I could get a crack at the Southern Area title next year.

“But I leave all that to my manager. He’s planning my route. I’m just working hard and doing the right things.

“I’m working with a nutritionist now. I do like my pastries, but if I want to be a professional sportsman I have to live like one.”
