Oxfordshire's Bradley Smith made a welcome return to form, finishing sixth in yesterday’s Red Bull Indianapolis Moto GP.

But it was the amazing Marc Marquez who again stole the headlines with a remarkable tenth straight victory.

The win saw Repsol Honda’s Marquez become the first rider since Mick Doohan in 1997 to win ten successive premier class races as he saw off the challenges of Jorge Lorenzo and Valentino Rossi.

Smith, who started from ninth, finished less than two seconds behind fifth-placed Monster Yamaha Tech 3 teammate Pol Espargaro.

The 23-year-old, who had a fall on Saturday, was shuffled back into tenth on the first lap, but regrouped and came through the field for sixth.

He commented: “I am really pleased to get a strong result and finish in the top six.

“It was a big confidence boost to see the finish flag finally in such a good position, which is where I want and need to be.”
