Bicester Cooper School pupil Owen Murray has been selected to shoot for England at the Commonwealth Euronations Championships in Cardiff from August 1-3.

Murray, 14, a member of Bicester Archers, is competing in the World Archery International Cadet age group (14-17) and has been shooting since the age of eight.

He has been a part of the Archery GB Academy programme for the last nine months having gone through an 18-month selection process.

Murray, who trains six days a week, has already gained one of the qualifying scores for next year’s outdoor internationals.

He hopes to shoot the remaining two scores in competitions next month, which will enable him to attend the Archery GB selection shoot in April next year.

If he comes through that, he will get the chance to compete in the junior European cups, the junior world championships in Yankton, USA and the Junior Commonwealth Games in Samoa in September.
