Lottie Wynne-Jones, 11, stormed to back-to-back wins as Bicester Blue Fins climbed to fifth in the Milton Keynes & District League Division 1 table by finishing third in the second round gala at Hillingdon, London.

She touched home first in the girls’ 50m backstroke before winning the 50m butterfly, breaking club age group records in both.

Wynne-Jones also finished third in the 12-year-old 50m backstroke.

She combined with Alex Pluckrose, Maddy Powell and Eveena Shah as the 11-year-old girls finished runner-up in both the 4x25m freestyle and medley relays.

Freddie Ashley-Sparks broke the club’s age group record in winning the 11-year-old boys’ 50m freestyle. He was also second in the 50m butterfly.

He teamed up with Tom Whitley, Ryan McKenzie and Matty Thornley to take second place in the 4x25m freestyle relay.

Maddy Powell won the 10-year-old girls’ 50m butterfly, before finishing runner-up in the 50m breaststroke.

Bicester’s fifth win came from Freddy Bunce who stormed to victory in the nine-year-old boys’ 25m backstroke, two seconds clear of his nearest rival.

Cameron Digman was second in the boys’ 10-year-old 50m freestyle, while Edward Davis finished third in the boys’ nine-year-old 25m breaststroke.

Charlotte Kemp, Davis, Powell, Tom Whitley, Wynne-Jones, Ashley-Sparks, Melissa White and Ethan Cavill finished third in the 8x25m Canon freestyle relay, which comprises the fastest boy and girls from the four age categories.

Blue Fins’ results ensured they qualified for the final gala, which will feature the top six teams in the league – the best position in the club’s history.

The third and final round of this year’s league takes place on September 13 at Oxford’s Temple Cowley pool.
