Bicester light middleweight Daza Usher was philosophical after losing to Mitch Buckland by a close points decision at the Motorpoint Arena in Cardiff on Friday night.
Usher, who at ten stone 2lbs was three ounces heavier than his southpaw opponents, worked behind the jab and kept a tight defence in the opening rounds of the fight in front of the Sky Sports cameras.
As the fight progressed, Usher and Buckland began to settle down and the punches flowed.
Usher was pushing Buckland onto the back foot, but his rival was giving as good as he got.
Although the rounds were close Buckland had his hand raised by the referee with a unanimous decision.
“I feel so lucky to be part of a big event like this,” said Usher.
“I obviously didn't get the decision I was after but I thought I boxed well and gave a good account of myself.
"Buckland is a great fighter and I hope he goes on to win a British title. I’ve learned a lot from this fight and will be looking to make improvements for my next one.”
