FREDDIE Curtis will represent Great Britain & Northern Ireland’s junior team in Sunday’s Loughborough International.

The 19-year-old javelin thrower, from Hardwick, near Bicester, is set for his seasonal debut in the event, which also features teams from England, Scotland, Wales, British Universities and the hosts Loughborough.

Curtis, who is studying at Loughborough University, finished 2013 second in the UK under 20 rankings with a best throw of 69.48m.

DAVID Kuester signed off as a vet 65 athlete with victory in the Midlands (British) Masters Throwers Group Weight Pentathlon at Moorways Stadium, Derby.

The Bicester thrower, who was the only competitor in his age group, finished with a total of 2,644 points.

Kuester, who turns 70 on Sunday, threw the hammer 30.99m, shot putt 8.00m, discuss 21.11m, javelin 27.37m and heavyweight 12.34m.
