Premier Section champions Goodlake Arms and Marlborough Club will battle it out for the men’s Winter League Seven-a-side Cup on finals night at Oxford Social Club on June 6 after coming through the play-offs at Marston British Legion.
Goodlake saw off Section 2 side Cricketers Arms C 4-0 in the quarter-finals, while the clash between Marlborough Club and Peachcroft Club went the way of Marlborough, who ran out 4-2 victors.
Section 1 winners Rose Hill Community Centre fought back from 2-0 down to defeat Section 2 outfit George Bar C 4-2 thanks to wins from Terry Wood, Geordie Grant, Steve Blake and Ray Pape.
The other quarter-final saw George Bar A defeat Donnington CC 4-2 with victories from Jimmy Oram, Andy Buckingham, Wayne Stevens and Barry Wells.
The semi-final between Goodlake and Rose Hill was a belter.
Pape gave Rose Hill the lead when he beat Kevin Wilkins, Goodlake levelling thanks to Chris Hughes’s win over Blake.
Simon Tricker and Dave Witherwick made it 3-1 to Rose Hill, only for Goodlake to level it up via Kevin Barefoot and Reg Bowers.
In a thrilling last game, Preben Krabben got the better of Grant, Krabben winning 2-0 with a second leg of only 12 darts, ending with a magnificent 157 (60-57-40) finish.
The other semi-final saw Marlborough race into a commanding 3-0 lead against George Bar A thanks Roger Crook, Dan Wyatt and Derek Lucas.
The George narrowed the gap to 3-2 through Barry Wells and Wayne Stevens, before Marlborough closed out the match when Mark Holtom defeated Buckingham to seal a 4-2 scoreline.
The ladies seven-a-side final will be between Florence Park Community Centre A, who defeated Donnington Community Centre C 4-0, and Black Swan, who just got the better of Corner House 4-2.
