Didcot won the Tens Competition with a thrilling 79-76 victory over hosts Oxford City & County in the final.

The encounter, played in front of a large crowd, went down to the last wood, before Didcot were crowned champions.

With all four disciplines being played at the same time, the match was tied at 76-76 going into the final end of the triples after the singles, pairs and fours had been completed.

And Didcot’s trio Linda Loosemore, Derek Loosemore and Ray Silver chalked up three shots to take the title, despite losing their match 19-15 to Sue Mayo, Rosemary Phelps and Jeanette Berry.

Didcot’s Dale Hall had earlier beaten Sam Watts 21-17 in the singles, while City & County’s Jackie Gray and Omar Sharif took the pairs with a 19-16 victory over Malcolm Woodley and Jane Murphy.

The fours saw Didcot’s Jackie Nunn, Leslie Storer, Helen Moore and Richard Nunn triumph 23-17 over Margaret Stacey, Graham Kerr, John Drage and Merv Gleeson.
