Bicester light middle-weight Andy Prichard made it four wins from four as he beat Northampton’s Kev Portas on points at the Heatherley Hotel in Gloucester.

Prichard, who boasted a height advantage over the more muscular Portas, got off to a flying start, working neatly behind his jab before letting his powerful right cross go.

Seconds from the end of the opening round he rattled Portas with a good punch.

Prichard started to show more aggression in the second round, with some good clusters of punches to the head and body, the best of which was a superb right uppercut that stunned Portas.

Knowing his rival would be looking for a knockout in the final round, Prichard kept himself out of trouble by using his superior jab.

As Portas tired, Prichard’s superior fitness told as he picked him off with neat some combinations to take a 30-27 unanimous decision on all three judges scorecards.

“I knew this was going to be a tough contest but I prepared well and did everything I was asked to by my coaching team,” said Prichard.

“I was keen to build on my undefeated record.”
