GEORGINA Polden secured four top-five finishes in the second round of the Aprilia Super Teen Championship at Donington Park, despite running out of the fuel in one of the races.

The 17-year-old from Kidlington suffered the problem in the second of three races on Sunday.

She said; “I had my eyes set on a second-place battle all the way round till the last corner, when my bike died.”

Polden managed to restart her bike and just made it over the line to come third.

She explained: “Saturday’s race was over six laps, but Sunday’s were over eight and we just did not put enough fuel in, so the bike was literally running on fumes.”

Polden qualified sixth on on the Saturday when they were restricted to one race due to the death of Ian Allkins in another competition.

She finished fourth and on Sunday she added fourth and fifth place finishes.

“I was very happy with my weekend,” said Polden who now occupies fourth place in the overall standings.
