Andy Whing’s fitness is the main concern for Oxford United head coach Gary Waddock today.

The midfielder was forced off at half-time in the 2-0 defeat at home to Fleetwood Town a week ago.

Whing had only just returned after four months out with a groin injury, but although the latest issue was similar, it was only minor.

He trained on Thursday and Waddock will make a late assessment on him and Sam Long, who has been suffering with a virus.

He said: “Whingy’s got stiffness in both sides, so it’s not the actual area where he had the problem.

“It’s soreness more than anything at the present.

“Sam will travel down on his own, so we’ll keep him away from the group because we don’t want that going through the camp.

“For 24 or 48 hours we’ll keep him away from the group, but he’ll be OK.”

Alfie Potter (groin) is out.

Plymouth are without ex-U’s goalkeeper Luke McCormick, who has a dislocated and fractured finger and Matt Parsons (thigh).
