ARDLEY United booked their place in the Oxfordshire Senior Cup final with a 2-0 victory over a youthful Oxford City outfit at Thame last night.

It means there will be an all- Hellenic League final, with Ardley taking on Kidlington, who saw off Oxford United on penalties on Tuesday night.

City, battling relegation from Skrill North, fielded four players with regular first-team experience, but it was not enough.

They had some good opportunites early on, with Steve Basham seeing his effort well taken by keeper Jack Hardy, who also denied Josh O’Hanlon.

And when Hardy was beaten by Zac McEachran’s drive, the ball came back off the bar.

Ardley went ahead on 41 minutes after City failed to clear and Ryan Brooks took advantage to score.

Ardley upped a gear in the second half and after Steve Howkins and Brooks had gone close, they clinched the tie in stoppage time when City keeper Mark Scott felled Brooks inside the box.

Callum Convey made no mistake from the spot.
