JOHNNY Mullins has been ruled out for the rest of Oxford United's season with a foot injury.

The centre back requires another scan to confirm the exact nature of the problem, but he has a suspected stress fracture of a second metatarsal.

It means Mullins, who has been one of United's top performers this season, will miss the run-in and any subsequent play-off campaign.

The 28-year-old damaged his foot late on in the 3-0 defeat at Chesterfield earlier this month.

not good news on the mullins injury as he has been one of our best players this season and will be missed. as we have seen over the years football has a nasty habit of kicking you in the teeth. the situation is not helped by the managerial change as gw will not have had time to assess the squad before the transfer window closes today. ho hum here we go again.

What a terrible blow. Mullins is easily my player of the season. The only other player who comes anywhere close is Ryan Clarke. I just hope that Waddock realises what an exceptional player he is and has him firmly in his plans for next season.

So - we don't know the diagnosis (he needs another scan to confirm the exact nature of the problem) and yet we inexplicably know the prognosis?

Once again I query the timing of an article on this page; this would be probably better written AFTER the further imaging and opinion, with a little more information available, wouldn't you think?
