Ben Goodall, from Harwell, put in the best performance of his career to take gold at the British Gymnastics Spring Series Tumbling event at Sheffield.

Competing for Milton Keynes in the 15-16 elite age group, he performed his two tumble runs brilliantly.

His first combined a series of whips and backflips ending with a full twisting double back somersault.

The 15 year-old’s second finished with a double-twisting double back somersault giving him a combined score of 61.60.

This not only secured gold, but also exceeded the British Championships’ qualifying score by six points, booking him a place at the national finals to be held at the Echo Arena in Liverpool in September.
