Shayne Almond bagged a brace as pacesetters Oakley United maintained their four-point advantage at the top of the Oxfordshire Senior League Premier Division, with a 3-0 success away to basement boys Garsington on Saturday.

Almond showed some clinical finishing to grab his double before setting up Kieran Schmidt for the third.

Under-strength Bletchingdon, shorn of seven regular players, thumped River-side 6-1.

It was 5-0 at half time via Andy McMahon (2), Craig Hanlon, Adam Wells and Ben Foster, before Liam O’Callaghan replied from the spot.

Piers McGlynn then smas-hed in the sixth goal to complete the rout.

Division 3 champions-elect Oakley Res fought back to draw 1-1 at Yarnton.

Luke Brennan gave the hosts Yarnton the lead, but Steve Wren levelled for the visitors with seven minutes remaining.

Meanwhile, Charlton United bowed out of the President’s Cup after a 3-0 quarter-final defeat at Chalgrove.

A penalty double from Ricky Armstrong and a Nick Skiller strike did the damage for the hosts.
