Banbury United’s woes in the Calor League Premier Division continued as they crashed to their eighth defeat in a row on Saturday.

In that run, Banbury have conceded 38 goals which has seen them drop like a stone in the table.

It was the Puritans’ heaviest home defeat for nearly 50 years.

The last time it happened was on August 29, 1964 when they lost 7-0 to Kidderminster Harriers.

To make matters worse, they also had Dave Baker sent off.

Banbury went a goal down within a minute when former Didcot Town striker Mark Draycott fired in.

He doubled Hungerford’s lead 11 minutes later.

Five minutes before the break, Banbury were reduced to ten men when Baker was sent off for bringing down Stefan Brown.

However, Scott Dutton, making his debut on loan from Wolves, saved Draycott’s resulting penalty.

Luke Hopper made it 3-0 in the second half, before Draycott completed his hat-trick midway through the half.

Hopper got his second, before goals from Brown and Harry Goodger sealed a wretched day for Edwin Stein’s side.
