NEAL Mallett, 56, from Oxford, dominated the British veterans’ championships in Gloucester to win his seventh epee title in nine years.
In the final, Mallett took on last year’s bronze medallist John Leahey.
After a first period of inactivity, the combat sparkled into life with Mallett producing a dazzling variety of hits from all angles to clinch a convincing 10-3 victory.
Earlier, four straight forward victories took Mallett to the semi-finals where he met Rob Flatt, 42, runner-up two years ago.
With 30 seconds to go, Flatt scored, but Mallett equalised and then went ahead with 12 seconds left on the clock.
