ANTHONY Miller continued his climb up the ranks with an impressive victory over Arron Mullis.

The Bicester Boxing Club star only accepted the bout with four days’ notice, but showed his class with a unanimous victory over his Witney opponent at a packed MECA Theatre in Swindon.

Miller was also giving away weight to his well-muscled rival, but still delivered the goods on the night.

He won the opening round after quickly establishing a solid jab.

The superior hand speed and accurate punches were all being landed by Miller and as the bell sounded, the Bicester man returned to his corner with an air of confidence.

However, his opponent upped his game in round two, landing a number of jabs.

Both boxers traded hard punches towards the end of the round and the judges could not split them.

But Miller showed his superiority in the final round, taking advantage of his tiring opponent.

A sharp right uppercut snapped Mullis’s head back and saw him give ground to the swarming Bicester fighter.

The crowd were on their feet as both boxers looked to land the knockout blow, but the bell soon signalled the end of an absorbing encounter.

Miller was handed a unanimous victory and believes the verdict was reward for his hard work.

“I took this match at short notice, but I am always ready to box and I'm always willing to travel to the away shows,” he said.

“I train hard and keep myself in shape all year round.”

Bicester ABC head coach, Daza Usher, commented: “This is a good solid performance from Anthony.

“He had everything going against him, but we always train hard in the gym and are always prepared.

“I’m really pleased with the way he executed the game plan and he will go into his next contest full of confidence.”

Miller’s next fight will be at Cheltenham racecourse at the end of this month.
