FOOTBALL: More away-day joy for on-song Didcot
8:00am Monday 3rd March 2014 in Sport
Didcot Town scored two goals in the opening 12 minutes and keeper Alex Williams saved a penalty as they notched up their fourth successive away win - 2-0 at Clevedon Town - in Calor League Division 1 South & West on Saturday.
The Railwaymen pressed from the start and received immediate rewards.
Clevedon defender Kye Mountford lost possession when trying to play the ball out of defence and Pablo Haysham had a simple finish into an empty net.
Didcot soon added a second.
A long clearance sent Haysham free on the right and he centred for John Mills.
His first touch was heavy, but that committed keeper Kane Mannings, and the Didcot frontman clipped the ball into the far corner for his sixth goal in seven games.
Dominic Stewart forced a fine stop by Railwaymen keeper Alex Williams, who also denied Nuno Felix.
The Somerset outfit were thrown a lifeline in the 66th minute when they were awarded a penalty for a foul on Matt Thorne.
The Clevedon striker hit the spot-kick well, but a superb one-handed save by Williams knocked the ball around a post.
Didcot Tn: Williams, Parish, Woodley, Carnell, Dutton-Black, Heapy, Haysham, Mills, Whitehead, Baines (Elkins 50), Longford (McKirnan 80).
