BB&O ROUND-UP

TIM Ellis scored 20 points as Gosford All Blacks won 40-10 at Phoenix to stay in the Premier Division promotion race.

The scrum half bagged two tries and five conversions to spearhead victory.

Gosford stay fourth, eight points behind second-placed Bicester, but they, and Hungerford in third, have a game in hand.

No 8 Liam Beesley burrowed over for Gosford’s opening try, but his opposite number Luke Maundrell replied in kind for Phoenix.

Scrum half Ellis outstripped the Phoenix cover to score from 35 metres and converted his own try.

Ellis then added an even better second from 45 metres out, which he converted for 19-5.

The second half was full of errors, but two tries from Jack Briggs, who moved to fly half after Harry Sutton went off injured, sealed it for Gosford. Ellis converted both.

Although lock Nigel Coltman bagged a consolation try for Phoenix, Gosford full back Ben Bodinham capitalised on a lucky bounce to score, with Ellis converting.

Littlemore won 15-12 at Farnham Royal to secure their first victory since October.

They remain bottom, but are now just three points behind Farnham.

Chipping Norton gained a walkover at home to Aylesbury Athletic.

Championship leaders Abingdon received the same bonus from visiting Berkshire Shire Hall.

Faringdon lost 25-13 at Aldermaston in the leag-ue’s only other fixture.
