Banbury United must have had visions of a recurring nightmare when they trailed Chesham United 3-0 after 34 minutes on Saturday.
In this season’s first Calor League Premier Division meeting earlier this month, Banbury crashed to an 8-0 thrashing at Chesham.
Thankfully, this time the Puritans tightened up and let in only one more goal against the second-placed side.
Still it was a fourth defeat in a row for Edwin Stein’s team.
Banbury keeper Kwame Fordah was busy from the first whistle, saving from Daniel Braithwaite and Drew Roberts in the opening five minutes.
Chesham took the lead when Chris  Dillon rose above the defence to head home.
They doubled their advantage when Dillon fired home from 20 yards.
It was 3-0 five minutes later when Roberts hit the target.
More great saves from Fordah denied Roberts and Dillon in the second half.
Toby Little hit a post for Chesham, who  had to wait until late on to add a fourth through Roberts.
Banbury Utd: Fordah, Cray, Martin (Mullarkey 66), Bridges, Blossom, Ryan, Pinto, Collins (Green 34 (McNulty 46)), Lawless, Morgan, Thomas.
Attendance: 276.
