Banbury United manager Edwin Stein says his team have the chance to put matters right when they host Chesham United tomorrow – two weeks after an 8-0 crushing at the Calor League Premier Division’s second-placed side.

Stein said it was an ideal opportunity to right some wrongs.

“It’s the chance for us to show people we are not as bad as that result suggests,” said Stein.

“But in terms of preparation, it’s just a another game and I’m not too concerned after seeing our display at Cambridge (Banbury lost 3-1) on Wednesday.

“After conceding an own goal, we responded in a positive way and got a deserved equaliser.

“We dominated the second half, but we didn’t capitalise on it which was a bit disappointing.

“But take nothing away from the boys, it was a massive improvement.

Banbury will be without Kynan Isa-ac (suspended), while striker Leon Simpson (shin) faces a late test.

Didcot Town joint boss Ian Concannon praised the application of the players in the 2-1 midweek win at Evesham United and said the work done in training by coach Andy Sinnott had been rewarded.

And he wants it to continue at home to Taunton in Division 1 South & West.

“Evesham equalised in the last minute, but full credit to the lads they went up the other end and scored with the last kick of the game,” said Concannon.“It was three huge points. “Although we hadn’t played for two weeks, we had three good training sessions on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday when the game was off.

“Andy worked on shape and how we go about our business when we don’t have the ball.”

Didcot are without Kameron Abbassi (calf) and Lance Williams (ankle).

North Leigh will be at full strength for the trip to Bridgwater Town, should the Somerset club’s pitch pass tomorrow’s 10am inspection.

Officials said the prospects for the game going ahead were 50-50, though more rain is expected overnight.
