The hard work carried out to get Kidlington’s pitch playable paid off as they edged to a 3-2 home win against Highmoor Ibis in the Uhlsport Hellenic League Premier Division on Saturday.
In one of only three matches to survive the wet weather, Kidlington inflicted the visitors’ first defeat in 13 games and also sealed a double.
Kidlington charged into a 3-0 lead inside the opening 23 minutes.
Tommy Castle fired them ahead after only 20 seconds, before Tom Woodbridge doubled their lead.
Mike Duerden made it 3-0 from Danny Bone’s cross.
Jordan Brown replied just before half-time and Mitchell Parker got a second on 87 minutes, but the hosts held on.
Thame United went down to a 1-0 defeat at home to Bracknell Town, Martin Bradshaw scoring the only goal, ten minutes from time.
Patrick Howe hit a late winner for Milton United as they moved into second in Division 1 East with a 2-1 success at home to Finchampstead.
Jonny James had put the hosts in front, but Matt Wright levelled.
