OXFORD Hawks dropped two points as they were held to a 2-2 draw by Lewes in Premier Division 1 of the South League at Banbury Road North.

With the visitors intent on cutting down space, it was a day for quick, short passing, but Hawks struggled as they failed to find their targets, gifting possession to their opponents.

The home side went ahead when James Ward’s reverse hit found the backboard, but the Sussex side were level before the break after Dan Money conceded a penalty flick.

Charlie Ellison converted a short corner in the second half to put Hawks ahead again.

They then went down to nine men when Steve Kelly and Drew Blackburn were yellow-carded.

Lewes took advantage to grab an equaliser from a well-worked short corner routine.

Oxford University stay fourth after a 2-2 draw with Old Georgians.

Cameron Deans and Oliver Sugg were their marksmen.

Oxford Hawks 2nd remain rooted to the foot of Premier Division 2 but gave Tulse Hill & Dulwich a battle before going down 5-4.

Their goals came from Tim Chilvers (2), Simon Robinson and Ollie Watts.

Callum MacKenzie and Ben Roe were on the mark for Oxford as they were beaten 3-2 at home to Ashford in Regional 1.

Oxford 2nd were among the goals again, winning 5-3 away to Ramgarhia at Southall.

Rupert da Silva led the way with a brace, while Andy Wynd, Rob Griffiths and Matt Oakes also got on the scoresheet.
