Witney got the new year off to a flying start with a hard-fought 2-1 win over Southgate to maintain their lead at the top of South League Division 3A. Witney took time to get going, but Charlotte Manning opened the scoring in the first half.

A couple of minutes later, another Southgate attack was intercepted and Lucy Reading made it 2-0.

Southgate reduced the deficit after the break, but Witney's defence stood firm.

Clare Werlinger hit four goals as Oxford Hawks 2nd saw off bottom club Milton Keynes 5-2 in the same division. Anna Clark was also on the mark.

Bicester went down 1-0 at Aylesbury in Trysports 3-Counties League Premier.

With Emma Gordon, Ruth Thomas and Lilla Venning to the fore, Bicester missed some great chances in the first half and paid the price in the last five minutes when Aylesbury scored.
