Chipping Norton’s Sean Walkinshaw will graduate into the top tier of the European Formula 3 Open in 2014 after signing a deal with Campos Racing to drive a Dallara F312.

Walkinshaw, who made his full season Formula 3 debut in the Euro F3 Open this year in the ‘Copa Class’ where he achieved two podium finishes, is the first driver confirmed at the ex-Formula 1 world championship racer and team owner Adrian Campos’s outfit.

Having enjoyed a series of highly successful winter tests, Walkinshaw is relishing the opportunity.

He said: “It’s fantastic we’ve been able to put a deal together with Adrian.

“I can’t wait to get back out there in the car testing, up to now everything has gone really well.

“My driving definitely improved this year and the only logical step was to move up from the Copa Class and into the main championship for 2014.”
