Gary Brown sent out his first winner since moving to Henrietta Knight’s West Lockinge stables, near Wantage, last month when Chestnut Ben scored at Newbury yesterday.

Brown is at West Lockinge Farm for six months while building work is taking place at Tony McCoy’s Upper Lambourn yard.

And it was the champion jockey who powered Chestnut Ben home by a length from Osmosia in the handicap chase over an extended two miles and two furlongs.
