Super middleweight Ciaran Evans-Fry saw off the challenge of Gloucester’s Damien Dinwiddy with an unanimous points decision in Bicester Boxing Club’s annual show at the Oxford Hotel.

Evans-Fry, who serves in the British Army as part of the 23 Pioneer Regiment, based in Bicester, took the opener in the first of four two-minute rounds.

The highlight was a hook combination to the body that appeared to hurt Dinwiddy, who countered it with a sharp uppercut that caught him clean on the chin.

Evans-Fry upped his work-rate in the second round and started to land with more regularity, catching Dinwiddy with a chopping right hand on the top of the head.

Although Evans-Fry outworked Dinwiddy, his opponent looked dangerous.

A three-punch combination at the end of the third round had Dinwiddy in trouble.

As the bout went into the fourth round, Evans-Fry was getting the better of the exchanges and caught Din-widdy with a vicious right cross that floored him.

Evans-Fry then took the verdict 40-35.

“Ciaran showed real dedication in training for this contest,” said Bicester head coach Daza Usher.

“He has been with the club for two years now and in that time has improved tremendously.

“This was a tough match for him and he has really done well. We will be looking to get him another contest after the Christmas break.”

Another stand out victory came from Bicester’s Anthony Miller, who outpointed Shawn Richards from Pegasus Gym in Aylesbury.

Early on, Miller withstood looping right hands and wide left hooks, before he started to regularly land his counter right hand.

Miller was landing the cleaner punches in the second round, with a right uppercut rattling Richards.

His three and four punch combinations were working well in final round, before Miler edged the contest 30-29.

Bicester duo Andrew Pric-hard and Adam Morris both scored impressive wins.

Prichard extended his unbea-ten run by winning every round against Darren Allen, while Morris outpointed Robert Mojak from the Fighting Fit Gym.
