Chloe Gorringe, from Berinsfield, will be going for glory today when she competes in the final of the National Schoolgirls Championships.

Gorringe meets the talented Melissa Hall (Everton Red Triangle ABC) in the class 3 1998 under 48kg final at Brentwood ABC, Essex.

In the semi-finals, Gorringe gained a nail-biting majority verdict over Georgia Simeone (Paddy Johns ABC) at Oxford’s Kassam Stadium.

It was a toe-to-toe bout in which neither girl gave ground.

Simeone started each round strongly, but Gorringe stood her ground and fired shots back to head and body, pushing her opponent onto the back foot.

At the end of three blistering rounds, both girls received a standing ovation.

Gorringe’s coach, Lee Corrigan, was on tenterhooks awaiting the verdict, which just went went the way of the Berinsfield girl.
