Lucy Brown excelled in reaching the final of the AEGON British tour Masters event in Nottingham.

The promising Oxfordshire player, from Elsfield, who is ranked No 12 in Britain, lost to Nottinghamshire’s rising star Freya Christie 6-1,3-6, 6-1 in the final.

Oxfordshire's 12 & under team had a tough time in the 12-counties tournament at Corby last weekend.

The Oxon boys squad of George Slater, Ollie Broadhurst, Harry Haigh and Ollie Dunn and the girls team of Lois McNulty, Grace Tully, Phoebe Taylor and Millie Bowater lost all four games against Cheshire, Northamptonshire and Bedfordshire and came fourth in their group.

The best performance came from Slater, who won two out of his three matches playing at No 1.

Despite the results, it was good experience for the players, some of whom were representing their county for the first time.

After decades of service to the county, Baroness Angela Billingham (president) and Mary Evans (chairman) stood down at the Oxfordshire LTA annual meeting.

Liz Bamber is the new president, while Nicola Maskens has taken over as chairman.
