HOCKEY: Bicester take over with five-star show

Bicester romped to a 5-0 success at home to Ashford 2nd in MBB&O Division 1.

The hosts took the lead through Jonny Reid, following a great through ball from Dave Sutcliffe.

They made it 2-0 when CJ Birtles and Reid played in Leo Graves, who finished with a reverse-stick shot.

Sutcliffe added a brace after the break, before Luke Smith completed the scoring with a simple finish.

Goals from Nick Styles, Jason Crook and Pete English saw Bicester 3rd to a 4-0 win at Banbury Piranhas in Division 9.

Bicester Ladies suffered a disappointing 1-0 defeat at home to Phoenix & Ranelagh in Premier 1 of the Trysports Three Counties League.

The hosts failed to settle in the first half and soon found thmselves a goal down.

After the interval, despite some counter-attacks with Jo Wells to the fore, Bicester could not find an equaliser.

Kelly Holt, Charlotte Cochrane and Emily Hill netted for Bicester 2nd as they won 3-1 at Oxford 5th in Division 2.
