MOTORSPORT: Plato claims memorable Silverstone win
10:00am Tuesday 1st October 2013 in Sport
JASON Plato hailed victory in race two at Silverstone as one of the best of his British Touring Car Championship career after coming out on top in an enthralling battle with Andrew Jordan.
The Oxford driver won two of the three races, taking his career total to 80 wins.
Although it probably came too late to mount a challenge for the title, he was thrilled with the duel and is looking for more victories in the season finale at Brands Hatch later this month.
“Of all the 80 victories I’ve had – that was one of the most enjoyable,” said the MG KX Momentum driver (pictured).
“It’s been a good weekend. What’s important for me is to win and it’s maximum attack.
“I’m going to Brands Hatch with one thing in mind – while there are guys in front of me worrying about the championship, I’m going there to win, so they had better get out of my way!”
After winning the first two races, Plato rounded off the meeting with a seventh place finish, 49 points adrift of leader Jordan.
Banbury’s Will Bratt finished 22nd and 12th before retiring in the final race.
