North Leigh ran rings around a stunned Taunton in a 3-0 win to make it eight goals in two Calor LeagueDivision 1 South & West games.

The visitors hit the ground running, taking the lead after just five minutes.

Kieran Sanders crossed to Aaron Woodley just ouside the Taunton box.

He fed Elliott Osborne-Ricketts, who hit a sweet shot from 15 yards that flashed past Taunton’s keeper Kyle Moore.

The hosts’ midfielders Rob Norrish and Andy Robertson, with their robust tackling and close marking of playmakers Osborne-Ricketts and Michael Alexis, were starting to cause problems.

A needless corner awarded to Taunton led to their equaliser as striker Chris Young rose unopposed at the near post to head past a helpless Paul White in the Millers goal.

With Brian Bowles replacing the injured Alexis (hamstring tear) at the break, the visitors had a scare when Taunton’s Steve Murray shot wide.

The Millers’ second goal came when a a high ball out of defence was miscontrolled by Taunton centre-back Steve Kingdon. Conor McDonagh was onto it in a flash, broke clear, took it around the keeper and finished neatly to put North Leigh back into the lead.

The game was effectively put to bed on 64 minutes when Morgan Williams was hacked down by defender Ben Mammola as he was about to shoot. Referee Ian Roberts awarded the penalty, from which skipper Stuart Hole scored, as well as dismissing the Taunton defender.

The victory keeps North Leigh n third place, a point behind leaders Paulton.
