GOLF: No Blues for Brown in Skelton Salver
8:00am Tuesday 20th August 2013 in Sport
GREGOR Brown claimed one of Frilford Heath’s major competitions by a single stroke.
The senior, who plays off five, shot a nett 69 to edge out the club’s general manager Jimmy James in the Skelton Salver.
Junior Harry Richardson also finished with a nett 70, but had to settle for third on count back.
The salver was donated and named in honour of the former club chairman J O Skelton, and marks the opening of Frilford’s Blue Course in 1994.
Elsewhere at the club, Mike Partridge won the Past Captains’ Trophy for the third time.
The 20-handicapper finished second on 35 points, one behind Mike Chapman.
But competition rules state present captains cannot win the event, so Partridge, who held the post from 1991-92, was the champion.
