LONDON Welsh’s Lyn Jones missed out on the Premiership coach of the year award last night.

The Exiles head coach was nominated in the QBE Director of Rugby of the Season category for his efforts to make Welsh competitive in the top flight.

Saracens’ Mark McCall picked up the accolade after his side topped the Aviva Premiership table.

Leicester Tigers’ hooker Tom Youngs was named player of the season.

The Land Rover Discovery of the Season award, presented to the best under 23 player, went to London Wasps lock Joe Launchbury.

Meanwhile, London Welsh’s Russian lock Kirill Kulemin has been suspended for one week after punching Worcester Warriors’ Chris Jones at the Kassam Stadium on Saturday.

Kulemin, who now leaves Welsh for Sale Sharks, is banned from playing between June 2 and 9, which includes a Russia international match.
