St Philip & St James (Oxford) won the under 9s competition at an inter-primary school girls’ tournament at Cutteslowe Park, North Oxford.

They beat Windmill (Headington) 1-0 in the final.

Oxford High won the under 11 competition, with Windmill again losing 1-0 in the decider.

This was a fantastic initiative of Summertown Stars and 80 girls had lots of fun playing team sports in the rain, mud and finally sunshine. There is little opportunity for many school girls to take part in team sports or in a competitive envionoment at school. Hopefully this tournament will inspire more girls to take up and keep up sport. We all know this is good for their health and personal development.
