RACING: Coneygree out for season

Coneygree, the rising star of Mark Bradstock’s Letcombe Bassett stables, near Wantage, has been ruled out for the season with a pelvic injury.

The six-year-old, winner of two Grade 2 contests at Cheltenham this season, was due to run in the Albert Bartlett Novices’ Hurdle on Friday.

Bradstock’s wife, Sara, reported: “He was lame behind following a sparkling piece of work on Saturday.

“It is devastating because we thought he had a big chance.

“That will be it for the season. He will have a month in his box and it will be mended.”
