Oxford Under 16s became the first team from the county to reach the England Cup finals day after an impressive display in the qualifying event at Stourport.

Two wins and a defeat saw Oxford progress as group winners and they now travel to Wakefield on April 13-14 with seven other teams for the grand finals.

They opened their campaign with a 4-0 victory over Oxford Hawks, but were then held to a 2-2 draw by Stourport.

The hosts had already beaten Northampton, and a victory over Hawks meant that Oxford had to win their final game to top the group.

And they did with the minimum of fuss, running out 4-1 winners – their goal difference enough to take them through.
