10:00am Friday 8th March 2013 in Sport
Oxfordshire’s Ethan Rose won the under 11 boys’ singles and doubles at the Badminton England National Age Group Championships at Redbridge Sports Centre, Essex.
The Long Crendon youngster lifted the singles trophy with a hard-fought 13-15, 15-8, 15-13 win over second seed Akhil Pillai, of Essex, in the final.
And Rose’s weekend blossomed further as he joined Surrey’s Alex Green to justify their top billing in the doubles.
The No 1 seeds saw off Bucks’ Anish and Joshua Mital of Bucks 15-9, 15-10 in the final.
Oxfordshire’s Safia Khimji won a brace of bronzes.
The Abingdon youngster took third place in the under 11 girls singles after losing in the semi-final to eventual winner Sita Morjaria, of Bucks.
And she won a second with Northumberland’s Asmita Chaudari in the doubles.
