RUGBY UNION: Bicester hit back

Bicester recovered from 21-14 down to defeat Littlemore 36-21 in their BB&O Premier Division derby at Oxford Road.

No 8 Dan Spencer grabbed the first of a try double to put Bicester ahead, Yamika Banda converting.

Bicester had full back Dickie Walsh sin-binned for dissent before tries from flanker Rhys Painton and centre Jonny Williams, both converted by wing Simon Gamble, put Littlemore ahead at the break.

Spencer converted a try from replacement wing Jason Smith, but fly half Ben De Figueiredo went over for Littlemore, Gamble slotting over the conversion.

Bicester hit back for victory with Walsh, prop Tom Horwood, lock Simon Griffin and Spencer going over. Spencer converted one.

Alchester lost 27-24 at home to Southern Counties North leaders Reading Abbey.

Abbey took the lead with a converted try, but Alchester centre Matt Flegg charged in from 20 metres for fly half Tom Miles to convert.

Miles added a penalty, but Abbey bagged another converted try and a penalty of their own.

Alchester went close through captain Tom Isles and Flegg, but a penalty and another converted try put Abbey 27-10 ahead.

Despite having prop Jamie Jones in the sin-bin, Alchester responded with full back Andy Blacklock scything through for Miles to convert.

Miles also converted a penalty try on 75 minutes, awarded after Flegg was taken out by a high tackle when destined to score.

Abbey had a late try disallowed as the referee did not see the grounding.
